SMM July 22 News:

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's copper foil imports in June 2025 were approximately 7,523.97 mt, down 11.26% YoY and 13.44% MoM. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative copper foil imports were approximately 46,599.92 mt, up 0.06% YoY.

In June 2025, China's copper foil import value was $138.7259 million, down 5.25% YoY and 11.38% MoM. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative copper foil import value was $830.0618 million, up 6.06% YoY.

In June 2025, China's copper foil exports were approximately 4,933.13 mt, up 13.23% YoY and down 5.10% MoM. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative copper foil exports were approximately 26,496.86 mt, up 9.32% YoY.

In June 2025, China's copper foil export value was $62.9824 million, up 11.62% YoY and down 6.47% MoM. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative copper foil export value was $337.38 million, up 16.06% YoY.

In June 2025, China's copper foil import-export trade deficit was approximately $75.74 million, down about $13.45 million MoM from $89.19 million in May.

By country, the main importing countries and regions of China's copper foil (excluding copper alloy foil) in June 2025 were Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and Luxembourg, with imports of 3,976.32 mt, 637.07 mt, and 528.60 mt, respectively. In June 2025, the main exporting countries and regions of China's copper foil (excluding copper alloy foil) were Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, with exports of 941.60 mt, 460.24 mt, and 363.49 mt, respectively.

In June 2025, both copper foil imports and exports declined MoM, mainly due to the consumer electronics industry entering the traditional off-season and adjustments in enterprise stockpiling cycles, which suppressed import-export activity. In H1 2025, China's cumulative copper foil imports increased slightly by 0.06% YoY, while cumulative exports increased by 9.32% YoY, significantly narrowing the trade deficit. This reflects an improvement in China's ability to independently produce high-end copper foil, such as high-frequency and high-speed (RTF, HVLP) types, with domestic substitution directly reducing reliance on imports.
