Regarding the Chinese New Year break and stockpiling situation of downstream aluminum extrusion enterprises, SMM conducted a survey and selected some findings for readers' reference:

Compared to the 2024 Chinese New Year, this year, automotive extrusion-related processing plants reported a YoY increase in pre-holiday orders, with pre-holiday operating rates showing steady improvement. Some leading companies have shortened their holiday periods to ensure supply. In South China, holidays started earlier, and even major local factories began entering the holiday period last week. Therefore, as the holiday approaches, downstream purchase demand has weakened, leading to an inventory buildup of both aluminum ingots and aluminum billets, with spot discounts likely to widen.
