Iron Ore Imports Profit Margins Slightly Down; Global Shipments Decline, China's Arrivals Rise

Publicado: Nov 12, 2024 09:56
According to the SMM imported ore cost-profit statement, profits from imported ore have declined slightly. SMM shipping data reveals that the total global iron ore shipments reached 30.31 million tonnes, marking a decrease of 11.6% MoM. Among these, Australia shipped 18.58 million tonnes, representing a slight increase of 5% MoM; Brazil shipped 6.33 million tonnes, experiencing a significant decline of 37.5% MoM; and non-mainstream shipments decreased by 16.5% MoM in tandem. Meanwhile, the total arrival of iron ore in China, as recorded by SMM, stood at 25.78 million tonnes, up 5.14% MoM. The pressure on iron ore supply has eased slightly, and if steel mills conduct low-level inventory replenishment, port inventories are expected to decline further. Entering a lull period for macroeconomic policies this week, price influencing factors may become more reliant on fundamentals. Attention should be paid to the apparent demand and inventory changes of finished steel products this week. It is anticipated that profits from imported ore may primarily fluctuate in the short term.
