Recently, at the Gateway Gulf 2024 Investment Forum co-hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), Bahrain Aluminium (Alba), and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.'s Sumitomo Light Metal Industries, Ltd., the three parties reiterated their strategic partnership and announced the establishment of a joint venture named "Alba-Daiki Sustainable Solutions (ADSS)." This venture aims to build a cutting-edge sustainable aluminum dross treatment facility in Bahrain, further promoting economic diversification and environmental sustainability.
This significant announcement has garnered significant attention and support from the Bahraini government. According to the agreement, Alba will hold a 70% stake in the joint venture, while Daiki will own the remaining 30%. The parties plan to commence operations in September 2026, marking an important milestone in environmental management and progress in the region.
