Electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) forms high technical barriers due to its high technical difficulty and strict process flow.

Electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) forms high technical barriers due to its high technical difficulty and strict process flow. The production process includes a series of fine chemical reactions and operations such as acidification, impurity removal, filtration to produce manganese sulphate, and electrolysis. Industry certifications and standards constitute additional thresholds for enterprises, ensuring that new market entrants meet certain quality and safety requirements. This guarantees product quality while raising the market entry threshold.

Enterprises in the industry tend to adopt flexible and varied business models to meet the needs of different fields. In the primary and secondary battery markets, alkaline manganese and high-performance alkaline manganese are used for the production of mercury-free alkaline manganese batteries, while lithium manganese and lithium manganese oxide (LMO) serve specific types of lithium battery production. Additionally, Xiangtan Electrochemical Scientific Ltd. enhances its competitive advantage by developing diversified new energy material products and responding to market changes.

When facing fluctuations in raw material prices or changes in downstream customer demand, the company flexibly adjusts its business model through market segmentation and product differentiation strategies. This strategy not only improves profitability but also greatly enhances operational flexibility.

Baiyin Nonferrous Launches 100-Tonne Crude Cadmium Tender, Auction Set for June 10, 2026
SMM, June 4 — According to SMM, Baiyin Nonferrous Group's Northwest Lead-Zinc Smelter has launched a public tender for the sale of approximately 100 tonnes of crude cadmium from its inventory. A minimum of three registered bidders is required for the auction to proceed. The registration deadline is 17:00 on June 9, 2026, with bidding commencing at 15:00 on June 10, 2026. Market participants noted that given the recent stability in cadmium prices, this tender warrants close attention, as it can serve as an indicator of the strength or weakness of market demand and provides a useful reference for the future direction of cadmium prices.
