CATL’s Shenxing battery’s L Series to debut on NETA L SUV model

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Zhang Yong, the CEO of NETA Auto, made an announcement on his personal Sina Weibo account on Jan. 17, revealing that CATL's ultra-long-life Shenxing battery's L series will debut on NETA Auto's NETA L model.

In August 2023, CATL introduced the Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery, claiming it as the world's first phosphate iron lithium (LFP) battery supporting 4C charging, capable of providing a range of 400 kilometers with just a 10-minute charge.

Additionally, the battery incorporates temperature control technology, allowing rapid heating to the optimal working temperature range even in low-temperature environments. It can charge to 80% of its capacity in just 30 minutes, even at -10°C.

CATL revealed that electric vehicles equipped with the Shenxing battery can achieve a range of 700 kilometers on a single full charge, comparable to conventional fuel vehicles, while maintaining stable performance with no degradation in low-temperature conditions. According to CATL's plans previously announced, mass production of this battery is set to commence by the end of 2023, with market availability in the first quarter of 2024.

At the beginning of this year, GAC Group confirmed that the Shenxing battery will be supplied to GAC AION, offering both a "low-temperature version" and a "long-life version." The "long-life version" is expected to support an extended 8-year or 800,000-kilometer core battery warranty and is scheduled for official market release in June of this year.

In addition to the battery news, the NETA L has already appeared in the 378th batch of the "Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Products" by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (“MIIT”). It offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) with various color options.

Riding on the Shanhai platform, the NETA L targets the large five-seater SUV market. It measures 4,770mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm.

Regarding power, the pure electric version of the NETA L is equipped with a 170kW motor from Wuxi CRRC Times Electric Drive Technology Co., Ltd. The REEV version features the Chongqing Sokon Powertrain's H15R engine with a net power of 65kW and a displacement of 1,499ml. It's worth noting that the initially declared version was equipped with SVOLT’s battery.

In the 379th batch of the "Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Products" by the MIIT, the NETA L with the CATL’s Shenxing battery is revealed as an REEV model.
