Recently, Tianqi Lithium, a leading lithium industry giant in China, announced progress on its Suining Anju lithium carbonate plant, with an annual capacity of 20,000 mt.
SMM reports Tianqi Lithium's Suining Anju base will cost 1.5 billion yuan, and have a 20,000-mt lithium carbonate production line in phase one. Phase two will see a 1 billion yuan investment for a 23,000-mt lithium chloride line.
As disclosed in the announcement, Tianqi Lithium's Suining Anju phase one, including construction and equipment installation, finished mid-year, began trials on October 26th. After repeated testing and verification of each part of the production line, the battery-grade lithium carbonate produced by the project has passed inspections conducted by Tianqi's internal laboratory. On December 21st, it was confirmed that all specifications of the product meet the standards for battery-grade lithium carbonate.
With gradual capacity ramp-up at its Suining Anju base, Tianqi Lithium's lithium carbonate capacity will expand to 54,500 mt, which will increase its profits and market share.
