Alumina Prices in North China to Face Downside Risk Once Shipments South China Fill Local Supply Deficit

SHANGHAI, Mar 27 (SMM) – The perceived increase in alumina supply remains the main factor suppressing alumina prices. However, supply deficit persists in north China, where high costs and environmental protection triggered production cuts, thus local prices will be supported for the time being. It should be noted, though, that once shipments from south China fill in the supply deficit, alumina prices in north China will be vulnerable to decline.
