SHANGHAI, Mar 21 (SMM) - The average capacity utilisation rate of sample lead-acid battery companies recorded 64.89% with a combined output of 18.55 million kVAh in February, up 8.33 percentage points MoM and 7.67 percentage points YoY. SMM survey sample covered 48 enterprises with a total monthly capacity of 28.59 million kVAh.
According to research, most lead-acid battery companies resumed the production before February 5, leading to increasing operating rates. Given the early suspension of logistics in some areas, coupled with the growing battery consumption post the CNY holiday, especially the consumption of electric bicycle batteries, most traders restocked actively and the operating rates of enterprises increased. As for the automotive battery sector, after the routine post-holiday stockpile period, the orders were average, hence the medium and large-sized enterprises rarely produced in full capacity. In addition, compared with February last year when CNY holiday was still ongoing at the beginning of the month, lead-acid battery enterprises fully resumed production in February this year, hence the operating rates of lead-acid battery enterprises in February this year was significantly higher than last year.
