A arrendatária e operadora do projeto, Minera KMT, transportou o primeiro lote de minério para a unidade de processamento de Vallenar, operada pela estatal chilena de mineração ENAMI, nos dias 20 e 21 de agosto. O marco ocorreu apenas cerca de três meses após as partes assinarem um acordo de mineração em maio, cerca de quatro meses antes do cronograma original de desenvolvimento de sete meses. Farellon é uma parte importante da propriedade de cobre-ouro-cobalto Carrizal.
