From January 12 to 15, an Zhongsheng, vice president and secretary general of titanium, zirconium and hafnium branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and his party visited titanium production enterprises in Chaoyang, Jinzhou and Shenyang, Liaoning Province. This is the first time that the members of the new secretariat have conducted industry research after the completion of the seventh session of the council of titanium, zirconium and hafnium branch.

Chaoyang City and Jinzhou City have gathered many production enterprises of sponge titanium and sponge zirconium, whose output exceeds 50% of the national output. An Zhongsheng and his entourage visited and investigated Chaoyang Jinda Titanium Co., Ltd., Chaoyang Baisheng Titanium Co., Ltd., Baotian Huashen Titanium Co., Ltd., Chaoyang East Zirconium New Materials Co., Ltd., Liaoning Huazirconium New Materials Co., Ltd., CITIC Jinzhou Metal Co., Ltd., etc.

In Chaoyang Jinda Titanium Industry, we had in-depth exchanges with General Manager Wang Jixian, Director and Deputy General Manager Zhao Da, Secretary of the Board of Directors Wang Wenhua and Deputy General Manager Wang Yanfeng, and discussed the future development of Chaoyang Jinda Titanium Industry.

Jinda Group is an industrial system and real estate development and service company with titanium and molybdenum strategic light metals and key new materials as the core. It is also an important production base of high-quality sponge titanium for aerospace and national defense equipment in China. It has an annual capacity of 25000 tons of sponge titanium and 16000 tons of ferromolybdenum.

At present, the whole production line of electrolytic magnesium and titanium tetrachloride invested by Chaoyang Jinda titanium industry is under tight construction. In the future, the completion of the full-process production line will enhance the anti-risk ability of the Chaoyang Jinda titanium industry market, give full play to the advantages of the process, and produce more high-quality products to meet the needs of the market.

Wang Jixian said that the Chaoyang Jinda titanium industry will actively support the work of the titanium zirconium and hafnium branch and make new contributions to the development of the titanium industry.

In Chaoyang Parkson Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., Chaoyang East Zirconium New Materials Co., Ltd., and Liaoning Hua Zirconium New Materials Co., Ltd., an Zhongsheng respectively communicated with Yu Zhenkai, deputy general manager of Chaoyang Baisheng, Zheng Xu of Chaoyang East Zirconium, and Yang Hui, chairman of Liaoning Huazirconium, to understand the operation and difficulties faced by Baisheng Titanium Industry under the pressure of rapidly rising magnesium ingot prices in the second half of 2021. The influence of titanium sponge short process production line on enterprises is discussed.

Liaoning Province has gathered a number of enterprises in the upper reaches of the titanium industry, and the production and output of sponge titanium and sponge zirconium are mostly concentrated in this area, which has formed an obvious industrial advantage. In the exchange discussion between Baoti Huashen Titanium Co., Ltd and CITIC Jinzhou Metal Co., Ltd., Wang Junbo, assistant general manager of Baoti Huashen, Feng Lei, deputy general manager, Ma Yuncan, deputy general manager of CITIC Jinzhou Metal Co., Ltd., and Wang Bin, general manager of zirconium business department, respectively introduced the advantages of sponge titanium and sponge zirconium industry in Chaoyang City and Jinzhou City and how to develop sustainably and healthily.

The last stop of this visit is the Institute of Metals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenyang. Lei Jiafeng, a researcher and deputy director of the research department of lightweight and high-strength materials of the institute, and Hao Yulin, a researcher and deputy director. Researchers Xu Dongsheng and Ma Yingjie attended the discussion.

An Zhongsheng communicated with various experts and discussed the cooperation with the Institute of Metals and the co-construction of cooperative application platforms in many fields after the establishment of the new council of titanium, zirconium and hafnium.

Lei Jiafeng said: at present, the research on titanium in China is becoming more and more extensive, and the achievements and level of research and development of process technology are making rapid progress, but at the same time, it should also be noted that the output of titanium in China is very large, but the research level and equipment capacity of high-end process technology are insufficient, which requires the joint efforts of scientific research institutions and industry associations.

The Research Department of lightweight and High-strength Materials of Metal Institute was changed from the former Titanium Alloy Research Department and was established in 2020. It is mainly engaged in the design, preparation and application research of advanced titanium alloys in aviation, aerospace, marine, medical and other fields. The research direction of the research department is divided into two parts: one is to meet the major needs of the country, to study six major items: titanium-aluminum intermetallic compounds, high-temperature titanium alloys, titanium matrix composites, titanium alloy powder molding, structural titanium alloys, and titanium alloy calculation and simulation; second, to meet the needs of people's life and health, to study medical engineering titanium alloys and bionic medical materials. In recent years, the titanium alloy research of the Institute of Metals has achieved excellent results in many major projects. The Research Department of lightweight and High-strength Materials of the Institute of Metals has become an important research field of the domestic titanium industry and an important force to support the research of titanium alloy technology.

The Metal Institute is a member of the Titanium, Zirconium and hafnium Branch. Increasing exchanges and cooperation with the Metal Institute and establishing an industry-university-research exchange platform will be more conducive to the upgrading of the process technology of the titanium industry and to the high-quality development of the titanium industry.

In this research activity, an Zhongsheng respectively presented the bronze plaque of the seventh titanium, zirconium and hafnium branch vice president unit to Chaoyang Jinda Titanium Industry and the Metal Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
