According to foreign media reports, Chile's state-owned mining giant Codelco said it had reached an early contract agreement with three trade unions at the Chuquicamata mine. In the vote, the union accepted a proposal for a new three-year contract with a 1.3 per cent increase in wages and a bonus of $8500 each. In addition, the two sides also reached an agreement within the framework of negotiations on the extension of special working hours, bonuses for achieving production targets and flexible incentives. Data show that the copper production of Chuquicamata from January to September in 2021 is 239000 tons, which is lower than that of 300000 tons in the same period in 2020.
