On November 14, 2019, the China Aviation Industry Development Center published "Civil aircraft China Market Forecast 2019-2038". The report points out that the world civil aviation industry will continue to grow rapidly in the future, and China will become the most dynamic and fastest growing civil aviation market. From the perspective of the future development trend, the sustained and steady growth of the national economy, the rapid development of tourism, the acceleration of urbanization and the upgrading of national consumption are the main driving forces for the development of China's air transport market. It is expected that China's air transport will maintain a relatively high growth rate from 2019 to 2038, with an average annual growth rate of 6.1% for passenger turnover (RPK) and 3.4 trillion km for 2038 passengers.
The Development Center predicts that in the next 20 years, the structure of the turboslurry regional aircraft fleet in the "Belt and Road Initiative" area will undergo relatively significant changes, specifically reflected in that the proportion of 70-seat regional turboprop aircraft capacity will continue to increase in the next five years, while the proportion will decline in the later period, and eventually tend to stabilize. With the continuous maturity of the "Belt and Road Initiative" regional market, the flight frequency will further increase, and factors such as travel convenience and airline competition will make the turboprop regional aircraft miniaturized again, but in the end, compared with the global level, the proportion of large turboprop regional aircraft will be on the high side.
Xi'an aircraft Civil aircraft Company is the main manufacturer of turboslurry regional aircraft in China, and its "Xinzhou" series of turboprop regional aircraft has paid a total of 127 to domestic and foreign customers by December 2020. At present, more and more countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route and African countries have adopted the "Xinzhou" regional aircraft. Although China has built a relatively perfect civil aviation system, there is still a big gap compared with foreign countries and developed countries. In 2020, the per capita number of flights in China is about 0.35, while the global average is 0.5, compared with 2.54 in the United States and 0.93 in Japan. Therefore, China's civil aviation industry still has great potential for development, which provides a lot of space for the development of titanium industry.
In civil aircraft manufacturing, titanium is mainly used in engine and landing gear structures. in the landing gear system, some structures are subjected to great impact when landing on the ground, which must be forged with titanium alloy, using TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy, its composition (mass%): the content of Al5.5~6.8,V3.5~4.5, impurities is not greater than Fe0.30, C0.10, N0.05, O0.20, The other impurities are 0.1and 0.4 in total, and the rest are Ti. The billet forging is 950C ~ 1150 ℃, and the subsequent forging temperature is about 950C, and the fire deformation is 30% ~ 70%. The engine system uses titanium alloy which can work at higher temperature for a long time, which has high instantaneous strength and endurance strength in the whole working temperature range. It has good formability, high creep resistance and good thermal stability at room temperature. It has good fatigue resistance at room temperature and high temperature. The plates, blades and intake casings of civil aviation engines are all made of titanium alloy. The typical alloys used are TC4, TC6 (Ti-6Al-2.5Mo-2Cr-0.5Fe-0.3Si) and TC11 (Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si).
The period from 2020 to 2038 is the great development period of China's civil aviation, and the average annual growth rate of titanium in civil aircraft manufacturing can reach 6.5%. In the manufacturing of large aircraft C919, aluminum alloy accounts for 65%, about 14t/ frame, titanium alloy accounts for about 8%, about 1.73t: the front fuselage pressing plate is made of TC4 alloy, the joint is hung with the middle beam, the engine connection frame, and the ordinary frame is made of TC4 alloy forgings, and part of the titanium alloy is used for the head skin. The material of the rear fuselage of the ARJ21 regional airliner is TC4 alloy annealed sheet, the fuselage skin is TC4 alloy, and some components of the landing gear are TC4 alloy forgings.
