Guangdong Jingye Steel established following takeover, crude steel capacity at 2.4 million mt/year

Guangdong Jingye Steel is established on September 9 and produced its first furnace of pig molten iron on the same day after taking over Guangdong Taidu Steel. Guangdong Taidu Steel shut down in H2 2019 for failure to obtain construction permit and environmental protection license and had an annual crude steel capacity of 2.4 million mt. The company has one continuous rolling wire rod line and a high-speed wire rod line, with products sold across the domestic and Southeast Asian markets. 

 

Xingtai Steel to switch to EAF steel mill following relocation

Xingtai Steel plans to switch from blast furnace (BF) mill to electric arc furnace (EAF) mill after it relocates to the Wei County High-New Tech Development Zone, Hebei. The new plant will be equipped with two HIsmelt meting reduction devices, three 100 mt EAFs and refining equipment necessary for the production of special steel. When compared to existing BF process, EAF process could reduce pollutants by over 74%, cut unit energy consumption by over 17%, and reduce coal use by more than 40%.   

Prior to the relocation, Xingtai Steel has four BFs, with pig iron capacity of 2.6 million mt/year. 

 

HBIS Group Tangsteel commissioned blast furnace at new site

HBIS Group Tangsteel commissioned #1 2,922 m³ blast furnace at its new site on September 7, which has an annual pig iron capacity of 2.5 million mt. Tangsteel will put another two blast furnaces of the same size into operation in the future, which will expand its total pig iron capacity to 7.5 million mt/year.

The new facility is located at the Tangshan Laoting Economic Development Zone, which is close to Jingtang port.  

 

Lesteel commissioned #1 converter and #1 BF

Lesteel (Tangsteel’s new site) commissioned its #1  200 mt converter, with an annual production capacity of 2.1 million mt of plain steel, on September 8.  Lesteel also commissioned its  #1 blast furnace (2,922m³) on September 7, with an annual pig iron capacity of about 2.5 million mt.  Two more BF (2,922m³) will also be commissioned in the future, which will expand its total pig iron capacity to 7.5 million mt per year. In addition, trial production at its 2050mm HRC production line was also completed on August 6, with annual output of around 5.5 million mt. Its wire rod line production is scheduled to be operational in mid-October.

 

Fujian Sanbao started new project with capacity of 1.46 million mt pig iron

The ignition ceremony of the new No. 1 blast furnace of Fujian Sanbao was held on September 11 in Jinfeng Development Zone.

The project, which consists of the building of a 1700m³ blast furnace. With an annual production capacity of 1.46 million mt of pig iron per year.

 

Hebei to limit total steel and iron capacity at 200 million mt by end 2020

Hebei will eliminate 14 million mt of crude steel production capacity by then end of 2020 while the city plans to control its steel capacity to 200 million mt by the end of 2020, according to a three-year cluster development plan of the steel and iron enterprises announced by the local government recently.

On September 9, 2026, Australia initiated its second sunset review of anti-dumping measures on galvanized steel sheet from India, Malaysia and Vietnam, and separately launched a sunset review of countervailing measures on imports from India. The review covers July 2025-June 2026, with the final report expected by February 11, 2027. As galvanized steel is the largest end-use sector for zinc, the measures directly affect export costs and competitiveness, potentially impacting Australia’s domestic zinc demand and supply chain. Maintaining the duties would provide some protection for domestic steel and coating capacity, while termination could increase low-priced imports and affect regional zinc consumption. The final outcome remains subject to the authorities’ determination.

O projeto de expansão de 300 mil toneladas/ano de cátodos de cobre da JCC Hongyuan Copper, subsidiária da Jiangxi Copper Corporation, entrou na fase de aviso público de pré-aprovação de sua avaliação de impacto ambiental em 4 de setembro, com investimento total de aproximadamente 1,416 bilhão de yuans. O projeto está previsto para iniciar a construção em setembro de 2026 e ser concluído em dezembro de 2027. Após a conclusão, a capacidade total da JCC Hongyuan saltará de 250 mil toneladas para 550 mil toneladas.
