ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import weekly average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) remained flat at $229 a ton during the week ended August 05, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, the scrap price has been stable this week as a result of very minimal trading in the market, as well as a lack of any firm bids and offers being heard.
Mills have mainly been focused on sales of finished products and according to market participants will not be sourcing scrap soon, following the significant buying activity in the past few weeks.
Moreover, mills have also turned to the domestic market for scrap, where prices have increased $5 a ton to $225 a ton.
