Preliminary Import and Export Data for Base Metals in May

SHANGHAI, June 11 -- According to the data released by China Customs on June 11th, China’s imports of unwrought copper and copper profile were 422,666mt during May, and YTD imports were 1,759,304mt, up 53% YoY. Imports of scrap copper were 330kt, and YTD imports were 1.46 million mt, down 39.9% YoY.

    China’s exports of primary aluminum were 9,750mt during May, and YTD exports were 52,622mt, down 82.9% YoY; imports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum profile were 331,740mt, and YTD imports were 1,035,286mt, up 156.8% YoY; alumina imports were 480kt during May, and YTD imports were 2.15 million mt, up 9.4% YoY; imports of scrap aluminum were 160kt during May, and YTD imports were 680kt, down 24.5% YoY.
