SHANGHAI, May 6 (CBI China) -- This week, domestic NPI price remained stable, and domestic NPI market returned to be quiet following the trend of nickel price and stainless steel price.

According to the producers in Linyi region, prices of NPI (1.6-1.7%) were in the RMB 2,850-3,000/mt range, with the actual deals made in the RMB 2,850-2,900/mt range. The producers believe although the orders improved, the downstream steelmakers demand remained weak, creating great pressure on the price.

Prices of NPI (4-6%) remained in the RMB 1,050-1,150/mtu range due to weak demand from steelmakers.

Prices of NPI (10-15%) remained in the RMB 950-1,000/mtu range, and only one producer offered price at RMB 900-950/mtu in Anhui province. Although domestic NPI (4-6%) resources were limited, the imported NPI exerted negative impact on the market. The market insiders said recently the discounts for some imported NPI disappeared, but the sales were still good. In this context, the market shares of domestic NPI will unlikely expand further.
