SHANGHAI, May 5 (CBI China) -- Domestic silicon metal prices stabilized in the low level, with the price in the RMB 9,100-9,300/mt range for 553# silicon.
A consumer in Shanghai said the purchases were stable recently, with no changes in the prices. Silicon metal prices will remain stable as the high water period approaches, and the downstream producers will likely continue to purchase based on production needs.
A factory in Yunnan said rumor on silicon metal reserve purchases spreads in the market, but the details remain unknown. This rumor is the only positive news in current market, and the price for high-grade silicon will likely inch up.
According to CBI sources, select factories faced capital problems due to the electricity charges and operation scheduled in late April and early May, leaving to sell-offs in the market, and the delivery price in Shanghai was RMB 9,600/mt for 3303# silicon.
