






LONDON, Sep 24, 2010 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- U.S. domestic primary aluminum production in July was 146,000 metric tons, up 3.5% from 141,000 tons the previous month and up 8.1% from 135,000 tons in July 2009, the U.S. Geological Survey said Friday.
Total aluminum recovered from scrap in July was 229,000 tons, slightly higher than the previous month and 13% lower than the year-ago period.
Of this, 131,000 tons of aluminum was recovered from new scrap, 5% higher than the previous month and 15% lower than in July 2009. Aluminum recovered from old scrap totaled 98,000 tons in July, 4% lower than June and 9% lower year-on-year.
