China’s Domestic Selenium Prices Continue Climbing

SHANGHAI, Aug. 24 (SMM) – Prices of domestic selenium dioxide prices continued climbing. Current mainstream offers of selenium dioxide were between RMB 480-500/kg, and domestic selenium powder prices were also up, with mainstream traded prices between RMB 640-650/kg.

According to SMM survey, most selenium dioxide producers and traders constantly lifted offers due to high production costs, but demand from downstream EMM producers stayed at low level due to low operating rates in that sector. In this context, transactions for selenium dioxide were relatively sluggish.

Prices for domestic selenium powder also climbed correspondingly. According to SMM sources, tight oversea spot supply and firm overseas offers are the major reasons behind high selenium powder prices. However, constant price increases for selenium dioxide is another vital reason pushing up selenium powder supplier’s unwillingness to move goods and their constant price increases.
