China Discovers Gold Deposit In Xinjiang Region -Report

SHANGHAI, July 12 -- China has discovered a gold deposit in Tuoli county in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Tianshan Net reported Sunday.

This will add 15 metric tons to the region's more than 500 tons of prospective gold reserves, the report cited Zhang Yufeng, vice director of Tuoli's land and resources bureau, as saying.

Tuoli county has so far discovered 39 types of minerals in 416 mineral ore fields. This includes the prospective gold reserves, as well as 1.5 billion tons of prospective coal reserves and 2.5 million tons of prospective chromium reserves, according to the report.

Tianshan Net is a news site run by the government of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
