2009 June Al Output Data Analysis

SHANGHAI, July 24 (SMM) --
Alumina:
According to the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), China's alumina output was 1.93 million mt during June, down 4.47% YoY, but up 2.93% MoM. CBI believes increases in alumina output will continue.
Aluminum:
According to CNIA, China's aluminum output was 1.03 million mt during June, down 12.21% YoY, but up 4.55% MoM. Since China's monthly aluminum output was high during 3Q 2008, CBI predicts aluminum output during 3Q 2009 will still be negative on a yearly basis. However, aluminum output fell during 4Q 2008, and the restart of aluminum capacity has been increasing throughout 2009, so monthly aluminum output will experience positive growth both YoY and MoM during 4Q 2009.
