This Thursday, spot copper cathode premiums in the Shandong market were reported at 300 yuan/mt. After the delivery contract rollover was completed, spot prices returned to a premium structure. However, downstream orders remained weak, and the wide price spread between futures contracts further dampened buying interest, with purchases mostly driven by rigid demand. On the supply side, resources within the province were in oversupply, and some suppliers faced mounting shipment pressure, causing spot premiums to fall under pressure. Nevertheless, social inventory remained at a low single-digit level, which still provided some support for suppliers' willingness to hold prices firm. During the week, cargoes continued to flow out of the province for consumption, leaving local transactions sluggish. Looking ahead to next week, demand recovery is expected to remain weak, but low inventory support persists, and premiums are expected to have limited room for further decline.
