China's Aluminum Ingot Inventory Falls for Third Straight Week Before National Day

Metlen plans to invest nearly €25 million to expand its recycled aluminium operations in Greece. Its subsidiary EPALME will receive automated sorting, processing and melting equipment, enabling the facility to handle more complex scrap streams, including post-consumer aluminium recovered from end-of-life products. EPALME will serve as a hub for scrap collection, sorting and pre-processing, while Metlen’s Aluminium of Greece plant will convert recycled metal into higher-value products. Once fully developed, the project is expected to increase total production to more than 250,000 tonnes.

The Oklahoma Primary Aluminum project in Inola, a joint venture between Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Century Aluminum, has been delayed after the Inola Town Council unanimously voted to extend its suspension on primary aluminium smelting until April 7, 2027. The extension replaces a previous 60-day moratorium due to expire on September 28. The council also voted to place a citizen-led petition seeking a permanent town-wide ban on aluminium production on the April 7 ballot. The petition and a separate lawsuit filed by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office are currently being challenged in District Court. Oklahoma Primary Aluminum said it would pursue the matter through the courts while continuing to move forward with the project.

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has launched its Reindustrialising UK Aluminium briefing, outlining key trade and industrial policy priorities for the UK aluminium sector. Aluminium is recognised within the UK’s Critical Minerals framework and as a Growth Mineral, reflecting its strategic role in advanced manufacturing, clean energy, defence, and digital and technology sectors. According to ALFED’s latest economic modelling, the UK aluminium industry supports a wider economic footprint of £8.18 billion in GVA and around 104,800 FTE jobs, including £3.78 billion in direct GVA and 54,200 direct jobs. The briefing highlights four priorities: earlier industry engagement, alignment between trade, CBAM and UK-EU policy, stronger strategic UK capability, and better alignment of industrial and procurement policy with British manufacturing. ALFED also plans to publish a broader Reindustrialising UK Aluminium White Paper.
