【SMM Aluminum Flash News】Nannan Aluminum and Huanyu Qiankun Sign Agreement for Aerospace Materials Development

During the International Colloquium on Refractories (ICR) in Aachen, Germany, Almatis and ROMCO signed a term sheet outlining the key principles for a long-term strategic partnership for Brown Fused Alumina (BFA). The proposed partnership brings together ROMCO’s established fused alumina manufacturing capabilities in India with Almatis ’global sales, technical service and distribution network. Subject to the conclusion of definitive agreements, the parties intend to establish a long-term manufacturing, sales and marketing collaboration for ROMCO’s Brown Fused Alumina portfolio.

Guinea is looking to bring US financing into its growing push to process more bauxite into alumina at home, with its Mines Ministry holding discussions in the United States over possible support for an alumina refinery planned by Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG). The discussions involve the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Exim Bank, adding a potential US financing component to Guinea’s efforts to expand domestic alumina refining capacity. Chinese capital has so far played a major role in supporting the country’s move towards local bauxite processing.
