LG Chem and Volkswagen Partner on Lightweight, Eco-Friendly Mobility Materials

On September 28, LG Chem announced an MOU with Volkswagen Group to develop next-generation and eco-friendly mobility materials and expand their use.

The companies will explore next-generation plastics and composites using LG Chem’s ABS and engineering plastics to reduce vehicle weight and improve performance. They will also consider using recycled and cost-competitive materials in vehicles across Volkswagen Group’s brands.

[EV Truck: Gotion's Dianlala Unveils Swap Solution at IAA; First Truck for Europe-Africa Corridor Delivered]

Gotion High-Tech's mobile storage-charging-swapping system Dianlala, together with Chery Commercial Vehicle's United Trucks, unveiled an integrated vehicle-PV-storage-charging-swapping solution at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover on Sep 14, and delivered the first battery-swap heavy truck for the Europe-Africa transport corridor on site. The modular system offers 430kWh+430kWh packs and 5-minute swaps without fixed stations, and its truck swap interface is covered by the IEC 63066 standard, targeting cross-border trunk routes, logistics parks and temporary lines to ease charging pain points for electric heavy trucks in Europe and Africa.

[SMM Analysis] South Korea's NEV Exports Drop in August, but Cumulative Growth Persists Despite Production Disruptions

Korea’s NEV exports fell sharply in August amid fewer working days and production disruptions, but the YoY decline of 16.4% was milder than the 26.9% drop in total auto exports. Cumulative Jan-Aug NEV exports still rose 21.2%, while BEV exports were relatively resilient. The key focus is whether exports recover as production normalizes from September.
