Downstream stockpiling ahead of the holiday drives primary lead enterprise inventories to a more than 2-1/2-year low [SMM Primary Lead Inventory Weekly Review]

Published: Sep 24, 2026 16:26 (GMT+8)

As of September 24, in-factory inventory of major primary lead delivery brands stood at 800 mt, down 1,400 mt WoW.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approaching, lead-acid battery enterprises engaged in concentrated pre-holiday stockpiling. This week, downstream enterprises picked up goods as needed, pushing primary lead smelter inventories lower once again. Current in-factory inventory levels at smelters are not only below the 1,500 mt recorded in the same period last year, but also hit the lowest level since April 19, 2024. In addition, several smelters have begun pre-selling October production, and in-factory inventory at primary lead smelters is expected to remain at low levels before the National Day holiday.
