SMM, September 18:
In the daytime session, the most-traded SHFE zinc 2611 contract opened at 26,560 yuan/mt, dipped to a low of 26,510 yuan/mt during the session, rose to a high of 26,640 yuan/mt in the afternoon, then pulled back to consolidate and finally closed at 26,565 yuan/mt, down 25 yuan/mt from the night session close, a decline of 0.09%. Trading volume decreased to 53,498 lots, while open interest increased by 2,418 lots to 130,000 lots, forming a doji. Gains on the LME lifted the SHFE zinc price center higher; on the fundamentals side, domestic inventory drawdowns provided support, but as prices rose, downstream purchasing became more cautious and spot trading turned subdued, leaving SHFE zinc to move sideways in the daytime session.
