SMM, September 14:
SHFE aluminum futures fell from the previous trading day today, and market buying sentiment improved notably. Coupled with strong warehouse withdrawals, suppliers raised their spot premium quotes. Spot A00 aluminum ingot against the SHFE aluminum 2610 contract traded between parity and a premium of 20 yuan/mt.
Aluminum futures prices pulled back again today. Suppliers in the central China market were eager to sell, but downstream processing enterprises, constrained by lackluster peak-season orders, showed weaker-than-expected buying sentiment. Actual transaction prices in the central China market trended lower, ultimately ranging from a discount of 60-90 yuan/mt against the SHFE aluminum October contract.
On September 14, SMM A00 aluminum was reported at 24,080 yuan/mt, down 160 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, at a premium of 10 yuan/mt against the 2609 contract, down 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, and at a premium of 10 yuan/mt against the 2610 contract. SMM central China closed at 23,990 yuan/mt, down 140 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, at a discount of 80 yuan/mt against the 2609 contract, up 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, and at a discount of 80 yuan/mt against the 2610 contract. The Henan-Shanghai price spread was -90 yuan/mt, narrowing by 20 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.
