SHFE aluminum continues to decline, sales sentiment weakens [SMM Spot Aluminum Midday Review]

SMM, September 14:

SHFE aluminum futures fell from the previous trading day today, and market buying sentiment improved notably. Coupled with strong warehouse withdrawals, suppliers raised their spot premium quotes. Spot A00 aluminum ingot against the SHFE aluminum 2610 contract traded between parity and a premium of 20 yuan/mt.

Aluminum futures prices pulled back again today. Suppliers in the central China market were eager to sell, but downstream processing enterprises, constrained by lackluster peak-season orders, showed weaker-than-expected buying sentiment. Actual transaction prices in the central China market trended lower, ultimately ranging from a discount of 60-90 yuan/mt against the SHFE aluminum October contract.

On September 14, SMM A00 aluminum was reported at 24,080 yuan/mt, down 160 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, at a premium of 10 yuan/mt against the 2609 contract, down 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, and at a premium of 10 yuan/mt against the 2610 contract. SMM central China closed at 23,990 yuan/mt, down 140 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, at a discount of 80 yuan/mt against the 2609 contract, up 10 yuan/mt from the previous trading day, and at a discount of 80 yuan/mt against the 2610 contract. The Henan-Shanghai price spread was -90 yuan/mt, narrowing by 20 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.

Jiaozuo Wanfang Terminates Major Asset Acquisition and Related-Party Transaction Due to Market Changes
On September 14, Jiaozuo Wanfang announced that the company's 10th Board of Directors had reviewed and approved the proposal to terminate the issuance of shares for asset acquisition and related-party transaction, and to withdraw the application documents. The transaction originally planned to acquire 99.4375% equity of Kaiman Aluminum (Sanmenxia) Co., Ltd. from 19 counterparties, constituting a major asset restructuring and related-party transaction. Given that the current market environment has changed significantly compared with the early planning stage, after prudent consideration, the company and the major counterparties unanimously decided to terminate the transaction. The company stated that terminating the transaction will not have a material adverse impact on its main business and financial condition, and promised not to plan any major asset restructuring matters for at least one month from the date of the announcement.

JISCO's 5083 Aluminum Alloy Enters High-End Markets with Leading Performance and Quality Stability
Recently, JISCO's 5083 high-corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy achieved batch delivery, successfully entering high-end markets such as ultra-high-pressure forged flanges, shipbuilding, and pressure vessels, with product qualification rates and performance stability continuing to lead the industry. The 5083 high-corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy combines outstanding properties such as high strength and high corrosion resistance, but its production process is extremely stringent and the technical barriers are very high. During mass production, quality issues such as severe surface segregation, uneven internal structure, and significant performance fluctuations are prone to occur. Facing these challenges, the technical team of JISCO Dongxing Jiaxin New Materials Company continued to tackle key problems, focusing on optimizing critical technologies such as AirSlip (oil-air lubrication) casting, effectively improving the surface finish and forming precision of casting ingots. The company has now achieved regular mass production of core specifications including 178 mm, 228 mm, 254 mm, and 381 mm, fully meeting the stringent material standards for high-end fields such as marine engineering equipment and ultra-high-pressure flanges.
