[SMM Flash] Albemarle Completes Wodgina Spodumene Concentrate Auction at US$2,307/dmt CIF China

SMM September 2: Albemarle completed a new round of bidding for spodumene concentrate from its Wodgina operation today. The tender volume was 15,840 dry metric tonnes, with a ±10% quantity tolerance.

The final transaction price was reported at US$2,307/dmt CIF China, normalized to 6% Li₂O. The cargo is priced on a CIF Zhenjiang Port, China basis, excluding VAT. Payment terms are cash in advance, with payment required to be received by September 8.

The country currently has seven lithium projects in operation and five under construction, with two additional projects at the feasibility stage.

The company plans to reduce the planned capacity of its ternary precursor project from 80,000 mt/year to 20,000 mt/year, releasing RMB 948.75 million in proceeds, equivalent to 18.23% of its net IPO proceeds. The funds will be redirected to the Lufupa hydropower project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which will be implemented by its wholly owned subsidiary.
