[Toyota to Produce Next‑Gen EVs in China, Nikkei Reports]

Toyota Motor plans to produce its next‑generation electric vehicles in China starting next autumn, according to a report from Nikkei's website on August 28. The new models will be Lexus‑branded SUVs (sport utility vehicles). The report said the vehicles will be built at Toyota's new Shanghai plant, with initial production of about 1,000 units per month in the first year, and annual output expected to rise to tens of thousands of units from 2028 onward.
