[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] Taiwan (POC)'s Upstream Stainless Mills May Post Higher September Price Despite Weak Demand

Published: Aug 28, 2026 09:29
Taiwan (POC)'s upstream stainless steel mills are expected to announce September prices shortly, with market expectations leaning toward nominal increases or effectively flat adjustments amid sluggish demand, persistent rainy weather, and a stronger at NTD31.85 per US dollar. However, 316-grade products are widely expected to see genuine price increases reflecting higher nickel costs, with LME nickel averaging US$16,757/ton this month. Raw material trends remain mixed — Chinese ferronickel held steady, high-chromium prices declined, while ferro molybdenum continued to rise.

High-Grade NPI Premiums Shrink as Market Cools, Downstream Discounts Emerge Amid Cautious Buying
[SMM Nickel Flash] August 27, In the current high-grade NPI market, enterprises are still mainly selling at premiums, but premiums have notably contracted; on the downstream procurement side, quotes at discounts have appeared, and low-price purchase inquiries have increased, though actual deals have been limited. In a falling market, traders are more cautious about buying at a premium, and fixed-price deals are scarce.
