[SMM copper cathode social inventory news flash] As of August 20, China's mainstream regions copper cathode social inventory stood at 134,400 mt, an increase of 17,700 mt WoW from last Thursday, and an increase of 2,700 mt compared to the same period last year. Inventory in Shanghai and Jiangsu saw a slight accumulation. In Guangdong, after the contract rollover, arrivals contracted while warehouse withdrawals increased, causing inventory to pull back. In the short term, domestic arrivals increased but import arrivals pulled back, marginally easing supply pressure. Copper prices consolidated at highs, with downstream primarily engaging in just-in-time procurement, resulting in light trading. Inventory is expected to see a slight accumulation next week.
