[SMM Rare Earth Daily Review: Rare Earth Prices Diverge, Pr-Nd in the Doldrums, Dysprosium and Holmium Rise] Overall, inquiry activity in the rare earth market remains subdued, and price performance is divergent: the Pr-Nd market sees sluggish trading and prices in the doldrums; for dysprosium products, due to procurement by large manufacturers, low-priced supply is tightening, and suppliers are raising their offers. It is expected that in the short term, affected by persistently sluggish trading, Pr-Nd product prices will likely continue to move sideways in a narrow range.

SMM August 19 News: The rare earth market saw divergent prices today. Specifically, in the oxide market, Pr-Nd oxide prices were lowered by 1,000 yuan/mt, dysprosium oxide prices were raised by 15,000 yuan/mt, terbium oxide prices remained unchanged, gadolinium oxide prices remained unchanged, holmium oxide prices were raised by 2,500 yuan/mt, erbium oxide prices remained unchanged.

In the metal market, Pr-Nd alloy prices remained unchanged, dysprosium-iron alloy prices were raised by 20,000 yuan/mt, terbium metal prices remained unchanged, gadolinium-iron alloy prices remained unchanged, holmium-iron market prices remained unchanged, lanthanum-cerium metal (alloy grade) prices remained unchanged.

Markets outside China side, praseodymium oxide FOB prices held steady this week, neodymium oxide FOB prices were lowered by $10/kg this week, terbium oxide FOB prices were lowered by $2/kg this week, dysprosium oxide FOB prices remained unchanged this week, Pr-Nd oxide (FOB China) prices were lowered by $2/kg this week, praseodymium metal FOB prices remained unchanged this week, neodymium metal FOB prices remained unchanged this week, terbium metal FOB prices were lowered by $5/kg this week, Pr-Nd alloy (FOB China) prices were lowered by $1/kg this week.

Currently, rare earth market prices were divergent: Pr-Nd was in the doldrums, while dysprosium and holmium saw slight gains. Focusing on the Pr-Nd market, affected by recent fluctuations in Pr-Nd oxide futures prices, spot suppliers were less active in quoting, the overall trading atmosphere was sluggish, and actual transactions remained in a stalemate. Pr-Nd alloy prices remained mostly stable, mainly due to less downstream inquiry activity, combined with relatively firm raw material prices, so metal enterprises made no significant adjustments to quotes, and market trading remained stagnant.

Medium-heavy rare earth market side, products such as terbium and gadolinium remained mostly stable with no notable price fluctuations; for dysprosium and holmium, suppliers slightly raised quotes as low-priced cargoes were hard to find in the market. Overall, rare earth market inquiry activity was poor, and price performance was divergent: the Pr-Nd market trading atmosphere was sluggish with prices in the doldrums; dysprosium products saw tightened low-priced cargoes and suppliers raised quotes due to purchases by major plants. It is expected that in the short term, affected by persistently sluggish trading, Pr-Nd product prices may move sideways.
