Wheaton's New CEO Sees Billion-Dollar Streaming Era After Antamina Deal

Wheaton Precious Metals CEO Haytham Hodaly said the US\$4.3 billion Antamina silver streaming deal with BHP opens a new era of large-scale metal financing. The transaction covers silver from BHP's share of the Antamina copper-zinc mine in Peru, where Wheaton already holds a stream through Glencore's portion. Hodaly expects roughly one similar-scale transaction annually over the next three to four years. Wheaton deployed US\$4.7 billion this year with US\$2.5 billion remaining on its credit facility. Q2 revenue hit a record US\$929 million, operating cash flow rose 57% to US\$650 million, and the quarterly dividend was raised 18% to 19.5 cents. Annual free cash flow is approximately US\$2.7 billion.
