[ Glencore Cuts Ties with an Iron Ore Trader Amid Fraud Probes ]

Global commodity giant Glencore is officially exiting its financial exposure to an iron ore trader amid ongoing investigations by the US Justice Department and Commodity Futures Trading Commission over allegedly falsified trade documents. The iron ore trader has also been removed from the approved-customer lists of Rio Tinto and Vale. Glencore clarified that its remaining financial exposure to the trading firm is "well below" $500 million.

Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu inaugurated a new €30 million biocoke agglomeration plant at its integrated Tornio production site. The facility processes biochar into biocoke to replace fossil fuels used in ferrochrome smelting. Operating at full capacity, the new plant is expected to reduce the company's direct CO₂ emissions by up to 82,000 metric tons per year.
