Published: Aug 17, 2026 11:27
Recently, the National Financial Regulatory Administration released data on key regulatory indicators for the banking and insurance sectors in Q2 2026. The data showed that commercial banks’ net interest margin in Q2 was 1.41%, up 0.01% QoQ from Q1. Notably, this marked the first time since Q1 2022 that commercial banks’ net interest margin stabilized and rebounded. The reporter learned that net interest margin is a key indicator for measuring the profitability of banks’ core businesses. An increase in net interest margin indicates improved bank profitability and signals an improvement in banks’ core operating conditions.
