According to data released by CAAM on August 12, new‑energy vehicles accounted for over 60% of monthly new‑car sales for the first time, and their cumulative proportion exceeded 50% for the first time. Monthly auto exports topped 1 million units for two consecutive months, with new‑energy vehicles making up more than 50% of exports for two straight months. Specifically, new‑energy vehicle output and sales reached 1.576 million units and 1.561 million units respectively in July, rising 26.8% and 23.7% year‑on‑year. In the first seven months, new‑energy vehicle output and sales hit 9.014 million units and 9.007 million units respectively, both growing by nearly 10% year‑on‑year.

The South Korean government announced the first round of its “field-oriented corporate investment and innovation support measures” on August 13 during an Emergency Economic Headquarters meeting and economic ministers’ meeting. Secondary battery recycling businesses had previously been classified as a waste-related industry, limiting their ability to move into national industrial complexes. Going forward, however, they will be allowed to enter such complexes on the same basis as manufacturing businesses.
