[Solar: European Energy divests 90MW Italian solar park]
Denmark’s European Energy has completed the sale of its 90MW Cerano Energreen solar project in Brindisi, southern Italy. The ready-to-build project has secured all construction and grid permits and is backed by a 20-year Contract for Difference awarded under Italy’s FerX auction scheme. Once operational, the solar park is expected to generate around 160,000MWh annually, enough to supply about 55,000 Italian households. European Energy said the divestment aligns with its strategy of developing, maturing and selling renewable assets while recycling capital into new projects.

[Solar: Spain expects temporary 5GW solar dip during August eclipse]
Spanish transmission system operator Red Eléctrica expects the solar eclipse on Aug. 12, 2026 to temporarily reduce PV generation on the Iberian Peninsula by about 5GW at its peak. The operator said the eclipse will occur when solar output is already naturally declining and is not expected to affect electricity demand coverage. However, it will implement preventive measures, including closer coordination with grid operators and authorities, increased operating reserves and continuous system monitoring. The eclipse is not expected to significantly affect PV generation in the Balearic or Canary Islands.
