SHFE Aluminum Futures Rise as Trading Firms Buy, Premiums Strengthen Despite Subdued Downstream Demand

Published: Aug 7, 2026 10:33
SHFE aluminum futures continued to rise. During the Friday stockpiling cycle, buying sentiment among downstream processing enterprises in the central China market remained subdued. Trading firms engaging in both spot and futures markets purchased in large volumes, and amid significantly negative premiums, the willingness of large suppliers to hold prices firm and hold back from selling became increasingly evident, driving a steady rise in traded premiums. Ultimately, the actual transaction price range in the central China market centered around premiums of -120 to -160 yuan/mt against the SHFE aluminum August contract.
