【SMM Tungsten Express】US scrap trader Tungco plans to build a 3,000 tpa tungsten scrap recycling plant in Kentucky, codenamed "Project 74." The company is seeking public subsidies and promoting the project under the "urban mining" concept to strengthen domestic tungsten recycling capacity in the United States.

SMM, 20 Sep: A tungsten enterprise in Chongyi released its long-term purchasing quotes for the second half of September: 1. 55% Wolframite Concentrate: CNY 400,000 per standard ton 2. 55% Scheelite Concentrate: CNY 399,000 per standard ton The long-term mine price was cut by CNY 13,000 per standard ton compared with the first half of the month. 3.Ammonium Paratungstate (APT, National Standard Grade Zero): CNY 580,000 per ton. The long-term APT price was reduced by CNY 20,000 per ton month-on-month (vs first half). Note: All prices are inclusive of 13% VAT.

SMM, September 20 – According to customs data, China’s export volume of tungsten carbide in August 2026 stood at approximately 303.4 metric tons, up 178.3% month-on-month while falling roughly 15.2% year-on-year. The total export value of tungsten carbide in August reached USD 60.285 million, rising 192.3% month-on-month. Major export destinations for tungsten carbide in August were South Korea (64%), Japan (14%), Germany (10%) and France (10%).

SMM, September 20 – According to customs data, China imported 5,505.8 metric tons (wet ton) of tungsten concentrate in August 2026, rising 39.6% month-on-month and 152% year-on-year. The total import value of tungsten concentrate reached USD 73.108 million in August 2026, down 42.2% month-on-month, showing a pattern of higher import volume at lower prices. By country of origin, major suppliers of tungsten concentrate imports in August were Myanmar (46%), Mozambique (26%), Kazakhstan (14%) and Vietnam (2%). Shipments from Myanmar and Mozambique are mostly low-grade polymetallic ores.
