[SMM PV Flash] In H1, the share of new energy power generation in the Northeast power grid exceeded 35%.

Published: Jul 29, 2026 13:20

From January to June, the Northeast China Power Grid's new energy power generation reached 120.6 billion kWh, surpassing 35% of the total power generation for the first time and ranking first among all regional grids in China. The maximum new energy power output hit 51.67 million kW, accounting for up to 68% of total power output and 73.9% of total electricity consumption—both record highs—signaling a breakthrough in the grid's green and low-carbon transformation.

The Northeast Branch of State Grid Corporation of China mobilized four provincial-level power companies within the region to establish a special task force for advancing high-quality new energy development under the Northeast China Power Grid. The task force conducted rolling analyses of new energy accommodation conditions, refined key measures to support new energy growth, and made every effort to expand accommodation capacity. The company optimized reservoir drawdown strategies to free up generation space during the spring high-wind periods when new energy output surged. During periods of accommodation difficulty, it arranged peak-shaving operation for nuclear power units and fully utilized pumped-storage stations for pumping and energy storage power stations for charging. Market-based measures were also employed, urging new energy stations to participate in inter-provincial spot trading, expanding cross-regional transmission, and leveraging intra-regional medium- and long-term continuous trading and mutual support trading to optimize power resource allocation.

Since the beginning of the year, the Northeast Branch of State Grid has facilitated the grid connection of 12.48 million kW of new energy generation capacity. The Northeast China Power Grid's total installed new energy capacity reached 140 million kW, exceeding 50% of the total, with the new energy utilization rate remaining high. Amid rapid capacity growth, this represents an "increased capacity with stable utilization rate.

[SMM PV News Flash] Save over 70% on monthly electricity bills | Chint New Energy Empowers South Africa Saverite Mart Community Supermarket PV+ESS Project
Recently, the rooftop PV+ESS integration project of the Saverite Mart supermarket in South Africa, supplied entirely with modules by Chint New Energy, was successfully connected to the grid, becoming another landmark practice of Chint New Energy in South African community retail scenarios. After commissioning, the project can save over 70% of the supermarket's monthly electricity costs, with an estimated payback period of two and a half years, significantly reducing the supermarket's operating costs while safeguarding the community's "vegetable basket" and "rice bag" with stable and reliable green electricity.
