[Solar: Algeria’s 15GW solar plan enters bankability and grid execution phase]

Published: Jul 29, 2026 09:36
A recent MESIA discussion on Algeria’s solar market highlighted that the country’s opportunity is no longer defined only by irradiation and land availability, but by whether projects can become bankable, grid-ready and locally executable. Algeria has set a 15GW solar PV program, with around 3.2GW under implementation in southern and high-plateau provinces, while roughly 99% of its electricity generation still comes from natural gas. Unlike some neighboring countries driven by energy import exposure, Algeria’s solar logic is closely tied to preserving domestic gas for export or higher-value industrial use.

EVA Prices to Continue Slight Uptrend, Cell Prices Remain Divergent [SMM Silicon-Based PV Morning Meeting Minutes]
[SMM Silicon-based PV Morning Meeting Summary: EVA Prices to Continue Slight Uptrend, Cell Prices Remaining Differentiated] Topcon solar cell market continued the size differentiation pattern, with price trends widening further for each specification. The 183mm size, supported by tight supply and related policy factors, saw prices continue to rise, with a producer already closing deals at 0.275 yuan/W, and the transaction range raised to 0.268-0.273 yuan/W; For 210R, low-price supply increased, with actual orders at 0.255 yuan/W gradually emerging, and the transaction range shifted down to 0.257-0.262 yuan/W; For 210N, the transaction center moved down, with mainstream deals shifting from 0.265 yuan/W to 0.26 yuan/W, with only a few producers holding original quotes, and the price index range adjusted to 0.259-0.264 yuan/W. Overall, except for 183mm which strengthened due to tight spot supply, the 210 series faced relatively high inventory pressure, with market bargaining room continuing to widen, and the futures differentiation trend persisted.
