[SMM Computing Power Midday Review] A800 regional divergence intensifies: Yangtze River Delta 40G surges, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei 80G bucks the trend with concessions

Published: Jul 28, 2026 11:44
The highest monthly rental price for A800 40G GPUs in the Yangtze River Delta surged to 20,000 yuan (up 21.21%), with the highest hourly rate reaching 3.47 yuan, driven by the clustering of the AI industry combined with rigid energy costs; the lowest monthly rental price for A800 80G GPUs in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region dropped to 31,000 yuan (down 3.13%), as clean energy from western Inner Mongolia and supply growth from the "East Data, West Computing" project create a pricing advantage. Regional price differentials reflect a structural trade-off between "proximity to demand" and "proximity to power.

[Market Overview] The regional performance of the A800 series diverged significantly in the morning. For the SMM-A800-40G-Complete Unit-Yangtze River Delta-Monthly Rental, the highest monthly rental jumped from 16,500 yuan to 20,000 yuan, with the hourly rate simultaneously breaching the 3 yuan mark. In contrast, for the SMM-A800-80G-Complete Unit-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Monthly Rental, the lowest monthly rental bucked the trend, dropping to 31,000 yuan. The contrasting price movements within the same A800 series reflect structural differences in regional energy costs and industrial clusters.

[A800 40G Yangtze River Delta: Surge Past 20,000, Hourly Rate Reaches 3.47] For the SMM-A800-40G-Complete Unit-Yangtze River Delta-Monthly Rental, the highest monthly rental rose from 16,500 yuan to 20,000 yuan, an increase of 3,500 yuan or 21.21%; the hourly rate climbed from 2.86 yuan to 3.47 yuan, an increase of 0.61 yuan or 21.33%. Prior to this, the A800 40G had been trading sideways within the 15,000-16,500 yuan range for several weeks, and this surge decisively broke through the psychological barrier of 20,000 yuan. The AI industry cluster in the Yangtze River Delta continues to exert its influence—Shanghai, a major hub for large language models, drives the country's highest density of surrounding computing power demand. However, regional power costs are high with no special subsidies, leading to rigid costs on the supply side coupled with surging demand, making a price breakthrough inevitable.

[A800 80G Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei: Prices Decline on Clean Energy Advantage] For the SMM-A800-80G-Complete Unit-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Monthly Rental, the lowest monthly rental decreased from 32,000 yuan to 31,000 yuan, a drop of 1,000 yuan or 3.13%; the lowest hourly rate fell from 5.56 yuan to 5.38 yuan, a drop of 0.18 yuan or 3.24%. Backed by clean energy sources in Inner Mongolia and the ongoing supply growth released by "East Data, West Computing" hub construction, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region's power cost advantages are gradually transforming into competitive computing power leasing prices, creating a price trajectory distinctly different from the Yangtze River Delta.

[SMM View] The divergence in computing power leasing prices across regions reveals the deep structural logic of the computing power market: the Yangtze River Delta excels in AI industrial clusters with the nation's highest demand density, but energy bottlenecks drive up costs, making prices more likely to rise than fall; the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, leveraging western Inner Mongolia's clean energy and its "East Data, West Computing" hub, continues to see supply-side expansion, offering more price elasticity. Regional price spreads are likely to persist in the long run—choosing where to deploy essentially involves a trade-off between proximity to demand and proximity to power.

[SMM Hashrate Midday Review] 4090 lowest price in Pearl River Delta has continued to drop, new resource release lowers the lower bound.
The lowest monthly rent for 4090 in the Pearl River Delta dropped to 7,200 yuan (down 1.37%), and the lowest card hour dropped to 1.25 yuan (down 1.57%). The reason was the release of new low-cost resources and the invalidation of previous quotes, while other prices remained unchanged. The 4090 is primarily used for local enterprise inference, and due to diversion by workstation-level substitutes and the continuous influx of new resources, the price center has shifted downward. Low-price downward probing may still continue, benefiting computing power buyers.

[SMM Computing Power News] East China 115 Units of 4090 Idle for Rent, Monthly Rent 7,100 First-Hand Resources
SMM August 24 news: About 115 idle RTX 4090 servers in east China are available for lease, directly from the resource owner, with a monthly rent of 7,100 yuan per unit. Options include a lease term of 6-12 months, a minimum of 32 units, and a deposit of one month's rent plus one month's payment. Each machine features 8×4090 24G, dual Xeon 8352V, and 512GB DDR4. SMM believes that the rent of 7,100 yuan per unit with flexible splitting is competitive in both price and minimum lease threshold.

[SMM Computing Power Express] Computing Power Demand Side Multi-Point Boosting: 950 Nodes Going Online in Batches
SMM learned that signals from the computing power demand side are intense: a computing-electricity collaboration project of a power generation enterprise and the expansion of a smart computing center of an operator are progressing steadily, while 950 nodes are being launched in batches (Q3 for cloud service providers, Q4 for operators), with supporting node demands from leading internet enterprises released simultaneously. SMM believes that the diversified growth on the demand side indicates that computing power construction has entered a stage of multi-subject collaborative volume release, which will support medium and long-term computing power leasing demand.
