[Solar: Croatia’s first energy community begins operation]

Croatia’s first energy community has started operation in Špičkovina, in the northern county of Krapina-Zagorje. Implemented by the North-West Croatia Regional Energy and Climate Agency, the project uses a rooftop solar plant on a volunteer fire brigade building, with current capacity of 32kW and plans to expand to 64kW. The community has 17 members, including volunteer firefighters, local residents, one micro-enterprise and the fire department itself. It operates under an energy-sharing model without on-site storage, with solar output distributed through the public grid to members’ meters based on a fixed allocation key. Members expect their electricity bills to fall by around half.

It was also recently selected to lead a five-year, USD 7.1 million government-backed project to develop tandem solar modules for space applications.

Germany-based solar developer ib vogt has started commercial generation at its 99MW Tantangan Solar Power Plant in South Cotabato, Philippines. The project is the company’s second solar plant in Mindanao and its first hybrid solar-plus-storage project in Southeast Asia. It is expected to generate more than 150GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply over 82,000 households. ib vogt said Tantangan is the first of more than 500MW of hybrid renewable capacity it expects to have operating or under construction in the Philippines by the end of 2026.
