Qiya Group Accelerates Multibillion-Yuan Mining and Port Project in Côte d'Ivoire

Published: Jul 27, 2026 14:46
Qiya Group is accelerating the integrated investment project for mining and supporting port facilities in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. The project is planned with an investment scale of tens of billions of yuan, integrating multi-metal ore mining, construction of a dedicated bulk cargo terminal, and ocean-going logistics and storage functions, dedicated to building a transnational industrial closed loop of "West Africa overseas resource base—China smelting and processing base". It is worth noting that proven reserves of high-grade bauxite in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire exceed 1.2 billion mt, and are also associated with a variety of critical mineral resources such as gold, manganese, iron, and rare earths.

The SEA secondary aluminum market remained mixed this week. Aluminum scrap prices were largely stable, while ADC12 remained under pressure due to weak downstream demand. Buying activity stayed cautious, although UBC scrap held firm on tighter supply and steady recycling demand. Market attention also shifted to the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), with growing focus on carbon reporting, recycled content, and supply chain traceability as compliance requirements continue to evolve.

SHFE Aluminum Futures Rise for Three Days, Central China Market Sees Sluggish Transactions
SHFE aluminum futures rose for three consecutive days. Coinciding with the Friday stockpiling cycle, downstream processing enterprises in the central China market significantly reduced their willingness to stockpile, still mainly making just-in-time procurement and digesting inventories, with only a few enterprises having stockpiling intentions. Most traders took advantage of low premiums to purchase, but overall market transactions remained sluggish. Ultimately, the actual transaction price range in the central China market was around a premium of -160-180 yuan/mt against the SHFE August contract.
