[SMM Nickel Flash News] Indonesia Grants DHE SDA Retention Exemptions to China, US, Australia and Canada

Indonesia has officially exempted China, the United States, Australia and Canada from its stricter Foreign Exchange Proceeds from Natural Resource Exports (DHE SDA) retention requirements under Government Regulation No. 21/2026, citing existing bilateral trade agreements. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said, "If there is a bilateral agreement, we have to comply with it. We cannot violate the agreement," adding that the government is still identifying other countries that may qualify for similar exemptions.Exporters trading with these countries will be subject to more flexible foreign exchange retention rules, easing compliance with the policy that took effect on 1 June 2026.
