[South Africa launches AD investigation into Chinese flat-rolled steel]

South Africa's ITAC has launched an AD investigation into flat-rolled steel from China following an application by ArcelorMittal South Africa, the sole SACU producer. The probe covers cold-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy, and alloy steel (width ≥600mm) under HS codes 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, and 7225.50, excluding stainless and GOES. AMSA provided evidence that Chinese imports enter at dumped prices, causing material injury.

On July 21, the total daily trading volume of hot-rolled coil among sample enterprises in SMM's four cities (Shanghai, Lecong, Tianjin, and Ningbo) was 12,000 mt, up 340 mt (+2.8%) day-over-day, down 7.98% YoY on a Gregorian calendar basis, and down 10.98% YoY on a lunar calendar basis.

MMi Daily Iron Ore Report (July 21)

Today, the DCE iron ore futures trended weakly, with a slight recovery in the afternoon. The most-traded DCE I2609 contract closed at 749 yuan/mt, up 1.13%. Spot prices at Qingdao Port fell about 5-12 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.
