[SMM PV Express] China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) Recruits Industry Experts for Special Research on Space PV Field

With the rapid development of space technology and commercial spaceflight, space PV, as the core energy source for spacecraft, is becoming a key technology supporting strategic missions such as space exploration, satellite communications, and space solar power stations. Meanwhile, the expansion of emerging scenarios like the low-altitude economy and high-altitude drones is imposing higher demands for high efficiency, light weight, and high reliability of PV systems in extreme environments, driving the extension of space PV toward integrated aerospace applications. As a frontier field of deep integration between PV and aerospace, space PV is an important direction for China to seize the strategic high ground in energy and expand new spaces for PV applications. Developing lower-cost space PV technology to support the future large-scale development of the space PV market requires pooling resources from PV, aerospace, satellite, and other sectors to advance collaboratively. To this end, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) plans to openly solicit experts from across society to jointly carry out policy research, technical breakthroughs, and standard development for the space PV industry.

The Municipality of Armsheim in Germany has approved an urban development agreement for a planned 50MW agri-PV project by Ylektra GmbH, paving the way for planning and permitting. [Solar: Shikun & Binui starts 104MW solar plant in Romania]

Israeli IPP Shikun & Binui Energy has started operations at its 104MW solar park in Șimleu Silvaniei, Romania. The project was backed by EUR 49 million in financing from Raiffeisen and is the company’s second operational solar facility in the country, following its 71MW plant in Satu Mare. The two projects bring Shikun & Binui’s operating solar capacity in Romania to 175MW.

[Solar: IGNIS secures Spanish solar financing and BESS partnership]

Spanish banking group CaixaBank has provided EUR 30.3 million in green project finance to renewable energy developer IGNIS for a 50MW solar plant in Palencia, Spain. Separately, ENGIE and IGNIS signed a 10-year flexibility purchase agreement covering 625MWh of BESS projects in Spain, expected to come online in 2028. IGNIS has also agreed to provide 82MW of grid access and connection capacity for Apto’s new data center campus in Fuenlabrada, linked to a long-term PPA from a 94MW solar project under development.
