[Indonesia’s PT Permai Metal Starts Commercial Slab Production]

PT Permai Metal Indonesia has begun commercial slab production at its Morowali plant in Central Sulawesi, with annual capacity of 1.5 million tonnes. The joint venture between Guangxi Guixin Steel Group and Tsingshan Group is expected to raise domestic slab supply and reduce reliance on imported semi-finished steel. Output may feed a nearby 4 million-tonne-per-year hot strip mill.
